Resurrection and the Life after Death

By: Ayatullah al-Uzma Naser Makarem Shirazi

WITHOUT RESURRECTION, LIFE IS VOID

WE BELIEVE that all men and women will be raised up in a certain day after death. They all will be judged, and those who are good and virtuous shall live in PARADISE (THE GARDEN OF BLISS), and the sinners will join the fire in Hell.

"Allah, there is no God but He. Of a surety He will gather you all together in the resurrection day about which there is no doubt, and whose word can be truer than Allah?"

THE HOLY QURAN _ S4: 87

Islamic Law from Quranic Perspective

Muhammad Taqi Misbah Yazdi, an iranian cleric and scholar has written an informative article about Islamic Law from Quranic perspective. This paper is an attempt to partially delineate the salient features of Islamic law from a Qur'anic perspective. It seeks to clarify that every human society necessitates that there exist a system of rules without which there can be no public order but chaos. It also shows that in Islam, there is no separation of religion from morals, worldly affairs and from politics.

Islam is an all-embracing religion consisting of a set of laws and injunctions which are requisite for the establishment of an ideal society. Therefore, all the laws and injunctions which are of a practical character and which should be applied to human society can be subsumed under the general rubric 'law.' The paper continues by discussing the sources of Islamic law and its goals.

The Amazing Qur'an

the holy quran

By  Dr. Gary Miller

Introduction

One thing which surprises non-Muslims who are examining the book very closely is that the Qur'an does not appear to them to be what they expected. What they assume is that they have an old book which came fourteen centuries ago from the Arabian Desert; and they expect that the book should look something like that - an old book from the desert. And then they find out that it does not resemble what they expected at all. Additionally, one of the first things that some people assume is that because it is an old book which comes from the desert, it should talk about the desert. Well the Qur'an does talk about the desert - some of its imagery describes the desert; but it also talks about the sea - what it's like to be in a storm on the sea.

Imam Ali: Voice of Justice

imam ali (a.s)

Generally there are two approaches to politics: politics minus ethics, which is also known as Machiavellian politics; and ethical politics which is Islamic in which violation of ethical rules and values is not allowed. In the former the ends justify the means, while in the latter, the political actor is not allowed to resort to unethical means to achieve his goals.

Can Islam be forced on others

Having accepted that from the Islamic point of view, faith in God is ingrained in human nature, and that it is only the parents and the society that corrupts the soul and divert it from the Right Path, the question comes: Can Islam be imposed forcefully on non-Muslims? Or we may even ask: Is the minor jihad a means of imposing the faith of Islam on non-Muslims?

Prayer, the most beautiful manifestation of servitude

The philosophy of creation of mankind is servitude and worship of the Almighty Creator. The holy Qur'an, the last and final revelation of God to mankind explicitly says in ayah 56 of Surah Zariyaat:

"And I have not created the jinn and the men except that they should serve Me."

How does Islam guarantee Human Rights

human-rights

Freedom of conscience is laid down by the Qur'an itself:

"There is no compulsion in religion" (2:256)

The life and property of all citizens in an Islamic state are considered sacred whether a person is Muslim or not. Racism is incomprehensible to Muslims, for the Qur'an speaks of human equality in the following terms:

"O mankind! We created you from a single soul, male and female, and made you into nations and tribes, so that you may come to know one Another. Truly, the most honoured of you In God's sight Is the greatest of you in piety. God is All-Knowing, All-Aware." (49:13)

Ramadan, a Training Session to Develop Taqwa

A major difference between the Islamic Fast and mere starvation is that the Ramaḍān fast is an exercise in self-discipline involving food intake, use of tongue, hands, eyes, ears, thoughts, and sex, etc.

Many of the undesirable habits and traits of the previous months are automatically corrected during this month. Some of us, God forbid, may have been habituated to a particular type of wrong-doing e.g. gambling, smoking, drinking, backbiting, fornication, fraud, hot temper, domestic violence, etc. Fasting breaks that habit either gradually for some or immediately for those of us with a stronger will power, especially if supported by constant supplications in seeking Allah’s assistance. To do so, it needs faith and determination. The usual antidote is to put an entirely opposite thought in the mind contained in a Qur'anic verse, for immediate implementation, which would block and displace the evil trend.

Hazrat Fatema Zahra (S.A.)

hazrat fatimas

On 20th of the Islamic month of Jamadi as-Sani some nine years before Hijra, Prophet Mohammad (SAWA) was blessed with the radiant daughter, Hazrat Fatema Zahra (SA), who is referred by God Almighty in the holy Qur’an as "Kowsar" or the Perennial Fountain of Abundant Munificence. The birth of this noblest-ever lady, after the Prophet’s sons had died in infancy, ensured the continuation of the blessed progeny of the Almighty’s Last Messenger to mankind.

The Holy Qur’an, Messenger of Unity

The Holy Qur’an, Messenger of Unity

Salaam and here is a special article on the Holy Qur’an, which as the Revealed Word of God to His Last and Greatest Messenger, Prophet Mohammad (SAWA), is indeed the Harbinger of Unity.

The holy Qur’an was revealed to Prophet Mohammad (SAWA) over a period of 23 years for the guidance of all humanity. The Prophet practically demonstrated how to live in peace and harmony, by obeying the commandments of God, abstaining from sins, and striving for material development and spiritual perfection. Following the passing away of Prophet Mohammad (SAWA), discord and disputes emerged. In other words, despite God’s commandments Islamic unity and brotherhood was badly damaged by the actions of certain elements. Ayah 10 of Surah Hujurat says:

"The faithful are indeed brothers. Therefore make peace between your brothers and be wary of Allah, so that you may receive [His] mercy."

The Twelve Imams

The word "imam" in Arabic means "leader". In Islamic terminology it generally refers to any person who leads others in prayer. According to the early Sunni theologians, the Imam is the leader of the Islamic community, and his function is to enforce the revealed Law or Shari'ah. As such the term is equivalent to "caliph". In Sunnism it may also be an honorific term, given to certain important religious leaders, such as Imam Shafi'i, founder of one of the four Sunni schools of law. In Twelve-Imam Shi'ism it has two important meanings. As in Sunnism, the leader of others in prayer is called an "imam", especially the person who performs this function on a regular basis in a mosque. But more specifically, an Imam is one of the twelve successors of the Prophet listed below.

What is Islam

Islam is a religion which guides its followers in every aspect of their lives. It is a way of life.

Islam is the modern or latest version of the message sent by God through Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses and Jesus. Islam was sent to mankind through Prophet Muhammad.

Islam is "modern" in the sense that it has come to complement the teachings which were introduced through Moses and Jesus.

Islam is a religion which seeks to give a meaningful purpose to our life on this earth. It seeks to guide us in fulfilling that purpose by creating harmony between ourselves, our Creator and fellow human beings.

What you will read below are some of the basic features of Islam.

The One & Only God

Islam is a monotheistic religion. It teaches that there is only one God who is the origin and creator of the universe. This is the foundation of Islam, and is reflected in the famous sentence which says that, "There is no god but Allah." (Allah is the Arabic name of God.)
